“Today, in our field, there is so much talent and recognition that we are reaching a saturation point. An artist should no longer strive only for breathtaking craftsmanship; he should, instead, try to help us live better, either by dressing the wounds that are constantly being opened by society, or by offering solutions to get us out of the mess we’re in…But it’s going to be difficult and we have a lot of work to do.” - Jean 'Moebius' Giraud

One of my favorite-est movies EVER! It's gotta be, oh...I dunno...on my Top 10! Go see it if you haven't yet. It's like an old classic tale of a boy and his dog on a grand adventure. Only instead of a dog it's a giant robot. And instead of a boy it's a....um...wait...no that part is still true.

They say that you should be careful around sleeping tigers. Very dangerous animals. Dangerous.

[Work it, make it, do it,
Makes us harder, better, faster, STRONGER]

[Work it harder make it better,
do it faster makes us stronger,
more than ever, hour after
hour work is never over]

N-now th-th-that that don't kill me
Can only make me stronger
I need you to hurry up now
Cause I can't wait much longer
I know I got to be right now
Cause I can't get much wronger
Man I been waitin' all night now
That's how long I've been on ya

I need you right now
I need you right now

Let's get lost tonight
You could be my black Kate Moss tonight
Play secretary, I'm the boss tonight.
And you don't give a f**k what they all say, right?
Awesome, the Christian in Christian Dior
Damn they don't make 'em like this anymore
I ask, cause I'm not sure
Do anybody make real shit anymore?
Bow in the presence of greatness
Cause right now thou has forsaken us
You should be honored by my lateness
That I would even show up to this fake shit
So go ahead go nuts, go ape shit
Especially in my pastel, all my Bape shit
Act like you can't tell who made this
New gospel homey take six, and take this, haters

"Stronger" - the bomb track from Kanye West's new album "Graduation". The Daft Punk sample is wicked as hell.

See... here's another song that I get a kick out of listening to, but after a while, hearing the lyrics, I've come to realize that I have no idea what the hell Kanye's getting at. Whatever. Anybody who can drop a funny Prince and Apollonia reference is a beast.

Okay, two for today because there won't be an update tomorrow. I don't think there will be an update tomorrow. If there are plans to update tomorrow I haven't thought about it. Tomorrow there are no plans of an update, I think. I'm thinking that an update isn't planned for tomorrow. When tomorrow comes, I've been thinking that there are no plans for an update. I thought if I update it's not planned for tomorrow. Update, tomorrow, no, I think.

That's why there's two today.

One more down.Oh yeah - the client for the previous image (Inara and Mal) decided to pass on the commission. Not a big deal, I assure you. But for those who are interested getting work from me, there is now a little button on the right-hand side bar that explains commission info and details. Anything else beyond that, you may contact me directly.

This commission list is supposed to be getting shorter. Supposed to be.

INARA & MAL_commission

I don't know too much about this show. Even after I watched the movie and a couple of the supposed 'key' episodes, I *still* don't know enough to warrant me drawing a commission about them. But someone asked kindly enough and I hope I didn't screw it up too badly.

And as for the someone who asked - well...those of you who've ever read this blog all know the drill:

"Hey, Eric. Would you draw me a 'Serenity/Mal/Inara' commission? They're my favorites!"

"Yeah, sure! No problem. I'll get on that ASAP."

"You need my name or anything? You need a mailing address?"

So, yeah. E-mail me if this one's yours. Oh, and for the rest of you who are expecting commissions, I promise that I've got your name on a list. Somewhere. I swear. So I won't have to send out a cattle call-type thing like this for later commissions. Well, you know - let's see if I'm lying about that too.

[**EDIT: I found the fella's name. Scott! C'mon down! If you still want this image, then it's yours! Thanks for being so patient with me and I hope to hear from you!**]

LAS to LAX_sketches

Quickies done waiting for the plane. Vegas is kinda cool, but the smoking *indoors*?! That I can do without.

Cookmeyer: "Hey, I'm going to a wedding next weekend. Should I wear a bow tie or a dukway? "

McLaughlin: "Oh, you gotta wear a bow tie! That's the only way to go!"

Cookmeyer: "Oh, okay...a bow tie then. But definitely *not* a dukway, huh?"

McLaughlin: "Dukway? What the hell's a dukway?!"

Cookmeyer: "Like, I dunno...4 or 5 pounds."

Office hi-jinks. In which Production Assistant extra-ordinaire Cookmeyer is the Clown Prince. That one had me laughing my ass off for five minutes. Then another ten or fifteen minutes worth of chuckling thereafter. I'm chuckling now.

ROUGE_90 minutes

I'm watching (well...mostly listening as I draw) "HEROES Season One" DVD Box set and I can understand why people speak very highly of it. I never caught the series' original airing because I hardly have time for TV (I wish I did...free time would be nice) and whenever possible I try to watch episodes back to back to back in oder to get the full effect. Yeah, I know - it's slightly this side of OCD.

Anyhoo, even though I'm not an avid watcher of the show, I am VERY glad there is actual programming going on in television these days - instead of the regurgitated reality TV that networks have been shoveling down the public's throat for the past several years. And this one just happens to be about guys (and gals) with super powers! How awesome is that?

There are very entertaining concepts to the series so far (I'm only about 4 discs in), not the least of which is the character of Hiro Nakamura - the space/time continuum traveler from Japan. But for added comedy, one that I'm sure is unintentional on the part of the producers of the show, is how accident prone and brittle Hayden Panettiere's character is. I mean, whenever they needed to show her powers in effect (short of the self-inflicted damage she did to herself) she practically breaks in half! From her neck twisting around, to a stick shoved into the side her head, to her hands going through a glass cabinet?! Poor girl. I dunno...seemed kind of funny to me.

For those of you who've never seen it, I think it's worth the watch just so you can see what all the hubbub is about. Me, I gotta go find reference now - what the hell is 'Serenity' and 'Firefly'?

One more down. The list is getting smaller. Well...not really. It's shorter by two since this one and the Deadman image. The rest of you, please hold your breath a while longer. Especially you, Dave; I'll get that Superman/Batman image right one of these days.

And for some odd reason, some of the nice comments that you guys are posting aren't showing up in my mailbox so that I may moderate them - some of them go as far back as three days ago. I'm not sure if that's a Blogger thing or something from my end, but rest assured, I'm not excluding anything you guys comment on. Can't approve the comments until they tell me I've got new ones, you know? My apologies.

Enjoy your holiday weekend. Hey, with the Labor Day thing coming up, is that officially the end of summer? Awww, sucks.
