“Today, in our field, there is so much talent and recognition that we are reaching a saturation point. An artist should no longer strive only for breathtaking craftsmanship; he should, instead, try to help us live better, either by dressing the wounds that are constantly being opened by society, or by offering solutions to get us out of the mess we’re in…But it’s going to be difficult and we have a lot of work to do.” - Jean 'Moebius' Giraud

CABLE_sketchcard

I don't quite recollect, but were this guy's *ridiculously* large shoulder pads stem from the fact that he's from the future? Or was it because he was a victim of a 90's superhero fashion trend that had everyone wearing obnoxious, superfilous gear that seemingly served no purpose? Just wondering.

Also, I don't even know if he still wears this stuff - which could mean that I'm perpetuating and contributing to my elitist commentary. Which in turn, makes me just as guilty as the designers that put him in this goofy get-up in the first place.

Way to make it suck some more, Canete.

I think it's because he has super fragile shoulders which required more padding to be properly protected. They called him "Mister Glass"! Is Howard the Duck next?

Dont look for excuses, you wanted to do the giant shoulder pads, we all know..:D
Anyway there is no bad design, the proof is just this card, you made it look great, and its from a Liefeld idea (eww).

Your work is so so good! I´ve loved your stuff ever since the Verotika years, and i´ve been following it from the more graphic approach to the current more animated look. And it´s all beautiful. Great work, sir!

If you ever have the time or inclination drop by my blog!:)

as nearly everyone stated above, the shoulderpads are a result of liefeld costume design. you did make it look awesome, but it would also be cool if you took all those terrible 90's designs and spoofed them (ie- even MORE ridiculously large shoulderpads. and little pouches. everyone had about 56 useless batman-like pouches everywhere).

He doesn't wear the ridiculous shoulder pads or the armor designs anymore, his current new costume is more practical...
